James Randall "Randy" Thompson

James (Randy) Thompson, age 79, passed away on February 17, 2022, in Wimberley, Texas.

Visitation will be on Sunday February 20, 2022 from 5:00-7:00 pm at The Hamil Family Funeral Home Chapel, 6449 Buffalo Gap Rd Abilene, Texas.

Graveside services will be held on Monday February 21, 2022 at 11:00 am at Buffalo Gap Cemetery. Services are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home.

 Randy was born in Brownwood Texas to Henry and Naomi Thompson on March 25, 1942.  He went to school in Abilene and graduated from Abilene High School in 1960.  He married Shirley Thompson of Buffalo Gap on August 14, 1962. Randy retired as Drilling Superintendent of Wes-Tex Drilling after 27 years. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.

Randy was preceded in death by his father Henry Thompson, mother Naomi Thompson, and brother Kenneth Thompson.

Randy is survived by his wife Shirley Thompson, son Rickey Thompson, daughter-in-law Tricia Thompson, daughter Karen Boyle, and son-in-law John Boyle; brother Stanley Thompson and his wife Randie; grandchildren, Chris Boyle and his wife Marli, Gregory Boyle and his wife Haley, Miller Boyle and his wife Claire, Colby Boyle, John Boyle II, Lauren Boyle, Jack Boyle, Waylon Thompson, Leila Thompson, Rebekah Thompson, and Hannah Thompson; great grandchildren, Evelyn Boyle and Robert James Boyle.

Pall Bearers will be Randy’s grandsons, Chris, Gregory, Miller, Colby, John and Jack Boyle and Waylon Thompson.
