Ivan Nash III, age 86, of Riverside, California, passed away on 29 April 2022 in Abilene, Texas.
There will be no viewing. A memorial service for family and close friends will be held at a future date at the Veterans Cemetery in Abilene, Texas.
Ivan was born in Riverside, California to Ivan and Mary Nash (nee Saklem). He is a graduate in economics from Chapman College, Orange, California. Ivan joined the Air Force in 1960, attended helicopter pilot training and was then stationed in Lincoln, Nebraska, Matagorda Island, Texas, and Great Falls, Montana prior to his tour of service in Vietnam as an advisor to the South Vietnamese Air Force. After Vietnam Ivan was stationed at Vandenberg Air Force Base, California. Upon Completion of this tour Ivan transitioned to the Air Force Reserve, flying C-130 aircraft for 17 years with the 303rd Air Rescue Squadron out of March Air Force Base, Riverside, California. Ivan retired from the Air Force as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1988. Ivan’s awards and decorations include the Air Medal with 10 Oak Leaf Clusters, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Honor Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with 4 Oak Leaf Clusters, and the Humanitarian Service Medal with Silver Cluster. Ivan and his wife Sandra were also the owners of Nash Wholesale Crafts, Inc, in California, specializing in the wholesale distribution of doll house miniatures nationwide until their retirement in 1998.
Ivan was preceded in death by both his parents.
Ivan is survived by his wife Sandra, two children, four grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
