Hugh Olan Key, 67, of Abilene, passed away on February 20, 2022, in Abilene.
Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 pm on Friday, February 25, 2022, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, February 26, 2022, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home. Burial will follow at 2:00 pm at Guthrie Cemetery in Guthrie, TX.
Hugh was born in Matador, TX to George Norman Key, Sr. and Mildred Lois Vinson Key on October 9, 1954. He met the love of his life, Clydene Shelton, in December of 2000, and married her on November 4, 2010. Hugh worked in the oil field for many years, and then as a correctional officer for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, retiring after about 20 years. He enjoyed working around the house and on his cars, cooking out, and reading; the bible in particular. He loved spending time with his family, especially his great-grandchildren. Hugh was a very godly man, relying on his faith throughout his life. He was always happy and made everyone around him happy with his infectious laugh.
Hugh was preceded in death by his parents George and Mildred, and his brother Georgey Key. He is survived by his wife Clydene Key; daughters Cassandra Key and Jerry Muhedi; step-daughters Jennifer Marks and Ashlie Pierce; brother Charles Ray Key; grandchildren, Kandis Finley, Kortni Freeman, Kenlee Freeman, Jade Rocha, and Trent Marks; great-grandchildren Kaelyn Finley, Michael Chacon, Aliyah Chacon, Daxtyn Stewart, Evilee Aguillon, Elleyon Freeman, and Eli Freeman.
