H. Robert Thompson, 82, of Abilene, Texas passed away on February 24, 2022 in the town of Abilene, TX.

Visitation will be 6-8pm, Friday, February 25, 2022 at Broadview Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, February 26, 2022 at Broadview Baptist Church with Pastor Wes Terry officiating.  Burial will follow at Tye Cemetery with Pastor David Cason officiating.  Services are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.

Bob was born September 14, 1939 in Binghamton, NY, to Howard and Pearl Thompson. He married Carol on March 31, 1961 in Binghamton and had two children, Sharon and Howard. He earned a Bachelor of Religious Education at Baptist Bible Seminary in Johnson City, NY in 1968. He was ordained in Haddon Heights, NJ in 1970. He earned his Masters in Educational Administration from Pensacola Christian College in 1981.

Bob spent his life faithfully serving the Lord in ministry, both in Christian schools and churches as an educator and an assistant pastor. He and his family served the Lord while living in New Jersey, New York, West Virginia, Virginia, Ohio, Maryland, and Florida. Following his retirement in 2005, he served as an interim pastor at 2 churches in Florida. In 2014, he relocated to Abilene, Texas, where he was involved with the Foster Grandparent Program. Bob enjoyed coaching basketball and refereeing volleyball. His greatest enjoyments were golfing and playing chess.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents Howard and Pearl Thompson and sister Wanda. He is survived by his wife Carol; daughter Sharon Mieden and her husband Robert, of Mentor, OH and son Howard and his wife Tammy, of Abilene, TX; his sister Patricia Sturkey, of Columbia, SC; his grandchildren Joseph Mieden and his wife Emily, Kathryn Brucker and her husband Mark, Tricia Wilson and her husband Tyler, Wesley Caskey and his wife Kelsey; 8 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to extend thanks to Hendricks Hospital/Hospice Care and to the members of Broadview Baptist Church in Abilene.
