Glenda Tomerlin

Glenda Tomerlin, 81, of Winters, TX, walked the road home to be with her Lord on March 23, 2024.  Visitation will be Tuesday, March 26th from 6:00-8:00pm and funeral services will be held at 11:00am Wednesday, March 27th with Terry Easley officiating. Both the visitation and service will be held at The Hamil Family Funeral Home at 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene, TX. Burial will follow at 2:00 pm at Sipe Springs Cemetery at 1051 County Road 192, Comanche, TX.

Glenda was born in Newcastle to Dean Abbott and Joe Creed on May 2, 1942. She went to school in Minerals Wells. She married her husband of 64 years, Tommy Tomerlin, on November 6, 1959 in Midland, TX. 

She was a loving wife and mother to her girls. She had a strong faith in the Lord. She was very active in Greenwood Baptist Church where she had many ministries including teaching Sunday school and children’s choir, working with the youth and children and providing copies of sermons to church members, shut-ins and truckers traveling through the area. 

Glenda was preceded in death by two grandchildren Alex Smith and Cody Barton, her father Joe Creed and her stepfather J. E. Abbott. 

Glenda is survived by her husband Tommy Tomerlin of Winters, two daughters Dee Dee Barton and husband Kelly of Gorman and Shea Gartman and husband Randy of San Angelo, her mother Dean Abbott, sister Karen Walker and husband Paul, brother Lloyd Creed and wife Dawn, six grandchildren, Katie Barton, Brandi Miller and husband James, Ben Smith and wife Tori, Brandon Gartman and wife Hannah, Brycen Gartman and wife Megan and Gracie Gartman, and five great grandchildren, Caden Barton, Lincoln and Hudson Smith and Jessi and Codie Miller.   

Pallbearers will be her sons-in-law Kelly Barton and Randy Gartman, grandsons Ben Smith, James Miller, Brandon and Brycen Gartman and honorary pallbearers are great grandsons Caden Barton and Lincoln and Hudson Smith.
