Glenda Ethelda Coleman, 88, of Abilene, Texas, passed away on February 28, 2026, in Abilene. Born on May 12, 1938, in Spur, Texas. Glenda lived a life filled with love, family, and dedication.
A visitation will be held on Monday, March 9, 2026 from 6:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. at Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Rd., Abilene, TX 79606. Funeral services will be held at 11:00a.m., Tuesday March 10, 2026, at the Hamil Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bobby Tal officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park Cemetery Abilene, Texas.
Glenda was the daughter of James Dewey and Ada Lois Millican. She spent her early years in Spur before moving to Welch, Texas during her teenage years. Eventually settling in Abilene, she built a life rooted in faith and family. Glenda was a devoted member of Belmont Baptist Church and found great joy in her community there.
In her professional life, Glenda worked as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) and dedicated many years of service to the State of Texas before retiring.
Glenda married William Gerald Cutbirth until his passing on June of 1969. In 1972, she met Michael E. Coleman, who became her devoted husband for nearly 55 years. Together they built a beautiful life that included travel during Michael's service with the United States Air Force. Their adventures took them to the Philippines and Hawaii during his extended tours of duty.
Glenda was a talented seamstress who loved sewing, quilting, and crafting. Her creations were cherished by her family and friends as tokens of her love and creativity.
She is survived by her beloved husband Michael Coleman; three daughters: Sandra Smith of Abilene; Karen Greer and husband Richard Greer of Potosi; Cheryl Townsend and husband Michael Townsend of Abilene; four grandchildren: Michael Smith and wife Robin Smith; Richelle Garrison; Brett Townsend and wife Nicole Townsend; Brianna Robison and husband Stephen Robison; eight great-grandchildren: John Smith; Kaylee Brownlee and spouse Stephen Brownlee; Destiny Milliorn and spouse Zach Milliorn; Dillon Garrison; Cassidy Townsend; Madeline Townsend; Paizley Townsend; Canaan Robison; four great-great-grandchildren: Kashtyn, Brynleigh, Oaklynn, Kiptyn; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as close family friend Mackenzie Smallridge.
Glenda was preceded in death by her parents James Dewey and Ada Lois Millican; her first husband William Gerald Cutbirth; sister LaQuita Noreen Nelson; brother James Leland; stepdaughter Darlene Coleman.
Pallbearers honoring Glenda's memory include Michael Smith, Brett Townsend, John Smith, Dillon Garrison, Stephen Robison, and Stephen Brownlee.
