Gary Mack Morris, 82, of Abilene, Texas, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends. Born October 18, 1942, to Virgil and Callie Merle Morris in Abilene, the 4th of seven children and the first member of his family born at the hospital in town. He attended Valley View Elementary, North Junior, and graduated from Abilene High School in 1961. He married the love of his life, Peggy Ann Morris, on August 16, 1980. Gary was a loving father to Carole, Scott, Cory, and Randy. A dedicated family man and longtime employee of what is now Holly Energy Partners, Gary served the company faithfully for 42 years.
Gary is preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Callie Merle Morris, brother, Gilbert Morris, sister, Rosa Jean Wilson, and sister-in-law, Marilyn Smith. He is survived by his wife, Peggy Ann Morris; his children: Carole Boyle (husband Bryan Boyle), Scott Morris (wife Jeanine Boulay), Cory Morris, and Randy Ross (wife Carrie Ross); 7 grandchildren that he loved and cherished: Jacob Johnson, Rex Ross (wife Rebekah Ross), Ryder Ross, Emory Ross, Andrew Boyle, Wesley Morris, and Beau Morris; siblings: Robert Morris (Sylvia), Judy Foller (Jimmy), Donna Marshall (Bob), David Morris (Karla), and sister-in-law, Delora Hutchins; and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by brother-in-law, Tom Smith, and dearest friends, Brenda Follis and Joe Wilson.
Known for his big heart and thoughtful nature, Gary was an avid baseball fan, hunter, and enjoyed traveling with close friends. His competitive spirit shone through as a champion skeet shooter and inaugural winner of the Morris Family Christmas Bowling Tournament. A man of faith, Gary was a devoted member of the Upper Room Sunday School Class at First Methodist Church. His kind and generous spirit touched many lives, leaving a lasting legacy of love and friendships.

Memorials may be given to First Methodist Church, Abilene.
Visitation will be Monday 5:30pm to 7:30pm Monday, September 22, 2025 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be 1:00pm Tuesday, September 23, 2025, with Rev. Steve Patterson of First Methodist Church, Abilene, officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park.
