Florence Nichols

Florence Ann Nichols, age 70, of View, TX, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 22, 2023, surrounded by her family in Abilene, Texas.

Visitation will be from 6:00pm to 8:00pm Wednesday April 26, 2023, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:30pm Thursday, April 27 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home with Tommy Locke of Faith Tabernacle officiating. Burial will follow at Drummond Cemetery.

Florence was born March 12, 1953, in Knox City, Texas to Annie Bell Williams and Auvis Pittman. She went to school in Anson where she graduated from Anson High School in 1971. She Married John B. Nichols, Jr on July 21, 1973, in Anson. They moved To Abilene after their marriage, and moved out to View, TX in May of 1975 where they lived up to present time. They had spent 50 wonderful years together at the time of her passing. She worked several clerical jobs until the adoption of their only son Derrick B. Nichols in 1981, where her focus turned to raising him and the multitude of animals on the farm. Later she enjoyed working at several restaurants in Abilene to pass the time and meet new people. For several years she was an Avon saleswoman, making Presidential club many of those years. She never met a stranger and would help anyone in need. She was loved by all who knew her, and it showed in her smile.

Florence was preceded in death by her parents, her stepfather, two stepbrothers, one stepsister, and one brother-in-law. She is survived by her loving husband, John Nichols of Abilene; her son, Derrick Nichols and his wife Sarah; her three grandchildren; Deagan, Bryson, and Brylee Nichols, all of Clyde, TX; two aunts, one brother, four brothers in law, five sisters in law, and several nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be given to Hendrick Hospice of Abilene.
