Evelyn Frances Newell Watkins

Evelyn Frances Newell Watkins, 90, died May 20, 2010 in a local hospital. The daughter of Cora Lee (Hicks) and George Newell, she was born on March 28, 1920 in Dallas, Texas. She was a homemaker and a member of Hope Chapel Foursquare Gospel Church in Abilene. She attended Rose Park Senior Citizens Center and had been a resident of The Windsor Hotel in Abilene. Mrs. Watkins was preceded in death by her husband, J. R. Watkins; daughter, Georgia Katherine Franks; and a granddaughter. Survivors include her daughter, Marie W. Fuller of Marble Falls, Texas; three grandchildren, Cyndee Turney, Jay Franks and Rosalind Franks; and eight great-grandchildren. No services are planned. Cremation arrangements were handled by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene.
