Elizabeth Ann "Nanny" Smith

1938 — October 3, 2021

Elizabeth Ann Hagan Smith was greeted by the Savior on Sunday, October 3, 2021 with an army of angels waiting for her.

1 John 4:19

"We love because God first loved us."

When love is demonstrated by people towards people, it is an expression of the love God has shown to us. How reassuring it is to know of Nanny's sureness in the Lord and feel her expression of God's love.

Visitation hours will be from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Sunday, October 17 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, October 18 at Holy Family Catholic Church, with burial to follow at the Clyde Catholic Cemetery.

Ann was born on July 12, 1938 in Callahan County to Clee and Cleo Hagan. She attended Saint Joseph's Catholic School and loved all the friends she grew up with there. She shared stories of sock hops, drive-ins, and many other stories full of happiness from her days at Saint Joseph's. On March 30, 1957, she married the love of her life, Harold "Pee Wee" Smith. Together they had three children: Terri Lyn, Harold "Buster" Lloyd, and Jerry Lee. As a family, they created many memories that will be cherished forever.

In 1980 Ann became "Nanny." She was abundantly blessed with five grandchildren: Justin Keesee, Cody Smith, Chad Keesee, Tyler Keesee, and Hagan Smith.

Nanny loved her family. Her door was always open, and the ice box was always full. She was a best friend to many and gave the best hugs. Nanny loved to travel and always made sure a casino was within arm's reach. She loved family game nights with dinner and dessert and made sure that you always had a drink. All of these memories and stories do not scratch the surface of what Nanny was. Nanny was safety. Nanny was love.

Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Pee Wee; her grandson, Justin Keesee; her parents, Clee and Cleo Hagan; her brother, Leon Hagan; and sisters, Wanda Lindsey and Dorothy Sklar.

She is survived by her children: Terry and Andy Carter, Buster and Karen Smith, and Jerry and Susan Smith; grandchildren: Rachel Keesee, Cody and Tiffany Smith, Chad and Brittney Keesee, Rebecca and Jami Parvaresh, Tyler Keesee, Amanda and Tyson Alexander, Colt Pendergraft, Hagan Smith, and Cody and Kayla Carter; great-grandchildren: Rylee Keesee, Cutter Keesee, Karsen Keesee, Payton Keesee, Jayden Smith, Jordan Smith, Cason Keesee, Blakely Keesee, and Prairie Alexander. Ann is also survived by a sister, Hazel Zak, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins that she loved dearly.

Pallbearers will be Cody Smith, Chad Keesee, Tyler Keesee, Hagan Smith, Cutter Keesee, and Walker Rainey.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes for memorial donations to be made to the Clyde Catholic Cemetery (mailing address: 901 FM 2700, Clyde, TX 79510) or to St. Jude Children's Hospital. Both held a special place in her heart.

It is said that a man dies twice in their life. Once when your body dies, and the second when your name is no longer mentioned. Let's all make sure to keep Nanny's name alive. Tell the stories. Share the pictures. Imitate her laugh. Relive the memories. And, always remember how much she loved you.
