Edithe Mae "Daisy" Dobbyn Easter, 87, of Abilene, died Saturday, June 12, 2010. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Jim Harcourt will officiate.
Born March 29, 1923 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Edithe was the daughter of Harry Wesley Dobbyn and Lillian Wheeler Dobbyn. She graduated from Enid High School and moved to Abilene during World War II. Edithe moved to Chicago for a period of three years before returning to Abilene in 1949, where she resided until her death.
Edithe married John Howard Easter on December 3, 1963 in Abilene. She worked as a stenographer for Stanolind Oil and Gas Company in the geological department. She kept all geological files and personnel records, scout reports, miscellaneous letters and took dictation. She was secretary to the district geologist of the Abilene, H.S. Edwards. The business was very interesting and fascinating to Edithe. Before working for Stanolind Oil and Gas, Edithe worked for Crown Central Petroleum Corporation for six months. She had also worked and as an Executive Assistant for BMA Insurance and with her husband, John. Edithe was a member of the Church of the Heavenly Rest, Episcopal.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Carol Brown and Margaret McKnight. Edithe is survived by her husband, John Easter of Abilene; two sons, Joe Blandford and wife Pat of Houston, David Blandford and wife Jane of Durango, Colorado; one daughter, Suzanne Parker of Cypress; one brother, Jim Dobbyn of Birmingham, Alabama; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
