Surrounded by family, Earlene Janice Offholter Griffith, of Abilene, had her peaceful homecoming with her Lord and Savior on June 12, 2024.
Visitation will be Saturday, June 15 from 6-8 p.m. at The Hamil Family Funeral Home at 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene, TX 79606.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 16th, 2024 at Beltway Park South. Burial will follow at Howard Cemetery in Paint Creek. Services are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home.
Earlene Janice Offholter Griffith was born in Asheville, North Carolina to Earl and Mary Sue Offholter, on August 15, 1939. She graduated from Hardin Simmons University with a degree in education. She married Daniel Riley Griffith on June 16, 1961. They celebrated 63 years together building a firm foundation which included their faith, family, farming, and education.
Earlene taught elementary school for 30 years for Haskell ISD. After retirement she continued to serve and love others through over 25 years of creating a card ministry to encourage and share the love and word of Jesus to others. She lived by being the “hands and feet of Jesus. She loved to encourage others to “be Jesus with skin on.” Her ministry continued from First Baptist Church in Haskell to Beltway Park South with Bible Study groups, her Life Group and Senior Ministry.
Earlene was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Fred Offholter.
She is survived by her husband, Dan Riley Griffith, her daughter, Kimberly Cheek and husband Robert, son Dan Griffith II, and wife Shari, and son Andrew Griffith and wife Dalyn.
Memaw loved her grandchildren. Grandchildren include: Kourtney Schopper and husband Adam, with great grands, Suzette and Betty. Megan Calvery and husband Jamey with great grands, James, Ben, Lycoln and Birdie Kate. Emma Figueroa and husband Jorge with great grands, Riley, Austin, and Nereida. Granddaughter: Jessica Carpenter and husband Owen. Hannah Griffth and Kendall Rowe. Granddaughter Morgan Puckett and husband Josh, with great grands: Maggie and Madee. Grandson Ethan Griffith and wife Emily.
Pallbearers will be: Dan Griffith II, Andrew Griffith, Hannah Griffith, Ethan Griffith, Robert Cheek, and Adam Schopper. Honorary Pallbearers are Jamey Calvery and Dr. Jorge Figueroa.
The family of Earlene wishes to extend our sincere appreciation to Dr. Melnyk, our very special nurse Beth Johnson, Hendricks Hospice, Beltway Park South Family and the prayer warriors who have covered our family and precious mother.
