He went on to attend and graduate from Texas A&M University-Commerce where he was a member of the Gamma Upsilon Chapter of Kappa Alpha. He went on to serve as an MRI technician with Abilene Bone and Joint, now Hendrick Clinic Bone and Joint.

Duke had a sincere love for music following primarily the Beatles, Moody Blues, Chicago and James Taylor. Along with that, sports played a large part of his life, everything from watching his children and grandchildren playing a wide range of sports including watching the Dallas Cowboys, anything Texas Longhorns and golf!
