Donna Diane Jones

Donna Diane Jones, 83, of Abilene, passed away on February 15, 2026, in Abilene.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at Hamil Family Funeral Home, with the Reverend Rhonda Greenwood of Merkel First United Methodist Church, officiating. Services are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.

Diane was born in Clovis, New Mexico, to Samuel and Jewell Covington, on January 25, 1943. She graduated from Clovis High School, and followed with a graduation from McMurry College, home of the Indians. She worked as a teacher for 36 years, retiring from Hart ISD in 2000. She loved her students, and loved to visit with her former students whenever she would see them. She was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church.

Diane was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Jewell Covington, sister Judy Westall and brother-in-law Harold Westall.

Diane is survived by her son, Brack Jones and his wife, Lillian Jones, granddaughter Brooke Jones, and grandson Logan Jones.
