Donald Norman Glandon

d. July 16, 2022

Donald Norman Glandon, 67, of Abilene, Texas, passed away on Saturday July 16th, 2022.  Don was born June 4th, 1955, in Canyon, Texas to Roger Glandon and Shirley Glandon.  Don is survived by his children Lynette (Mark) Wyatt and Nathan Glandon. His siblings Sidney (Steve) Hiser and Scott Glandon.  He is preceded in death by his parents Roger and Shirley Glandon.

Don grew up in Abilene where he attended Cooper High School.  He graduated with a Bachelor of Science from West Texas State University.  While a paramedic in Canyon, Texas, Don married Debbie Sampers (now Debbie Glenn) and had two children: Lynette and Nathan.  Don moved back to Abilene with his family to take a position with Hendrick Medical Center as a Registered Nurse in the Cardiac Rehab Unit and later went on to work at Lowe’s Home Improvement.  He cherished spending time with his family and spoiling his dogs: Hershey, Zeus, and Nova.  He enjoyed the simple pleasures of life to include: learning about history, collecting historic artifacts and antiques, listening to classic rock, and eating Texas barbecue.

Despite recurring battles with depression and addiction throughout his life, Don never stopped loving his family…and his family never stopped loving him. Through his own pursuits of rehabilitation, he also helped others by sponsoring and encouraging their journey to recovery.  Don’s kind heart, gentle nature, caregiving soul, and words of wisdom will be sorely missed by his children, family, and loved ones.

To celebrate and honor Don’s life, there will be a family and friends gathering (lunch and sharing treasured memories) on Saturday, July 30th from 11:30-1:30pm at Wylie United Methodist Church (3430 Antilley Rd, Abilene, TX, 79606).
