Don Norman Parsons

Longtime Water Valley resident, Don Parsons, passed away in Abilene on October 3, 2021. Don was born in San Angelo on November 22, 1942 to C.G. and Elsie Parsons.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, October 7, 2021 at 2:00 pm at the Water Valley Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene, TX 79606.

Don graduated from Water Valley High School in 1961 and attended San Angelo College. He worked for Galbreath & Supply Company in San Angelo for many years and maintained ranching interests on property that he owned in Tom Green and Runnels counties. He will be remembered as an honest and hardworking individual who was willing to help anyone in need.

Don was an avid outdoorsman well known for his hunting and fishing skills. His homemade venison jerky was often provided as a special treat to friends and family. He served in the U.S. Army Reserve from June, 1964 through January, 1970. Active-duty stations included Ft. Polk, Louisiana and Ft. Bragg, North Carolina.

Don was preceded by the deaths of his parents in 1995, and is survived by older sister Lynda Kay Bridges of Forrest City, AR; younger brother David Parsons (wife Lajeana) of Abilene; nephew Travis Parsons (wife LeAnn) of Big Spring, and nieces Tamara Bowers (husband Tim) of Burleson, and Lauri Bridges of Kentucky.

The family wishes to extend sincere thanks to the caring staff and nurses of Morada Abilene and Kindred Hospice of Abilene. Memorials may be made to the Water Valley Baptist Church or a charity of your choice.
