Dee (Dolores) Dunham

Dee (Dolores) Dunham, 86, of Abilene, passed away Monday, November 8, 2021 at her home with her family.

Time for visiting with the family will be on Tuesday, November 9 from 6 pm until 9 pm at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, November 10 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Buffalo Gap Cemetery.

She was born on May 23, 1935 in Hillsdale, NJ to Frederic and Edna Mae Parodi. Dee married Russell Dunham in 1954 in Hillsdale, NJ.

Dee was a member of the Wayne Memorial First Aid Squad from 1969 until 1997. She also worked as a bus driver for the Wayne Board of Education; after which she started working as a truckdriver for Thomas English Muffins. In 1997, Dee and Russell moved to Abilene. She worked with the Buffalo Gap Volunteer Fire Department, and eventually she started working as a school bus driver for Wylie ISD. Dee often said she couldn’t wait for the school year to end but was always excited for it to start back up again when summer was over.

When she wasn’t working, she loved to go camping and RV’ing, and she loved farming and taking care of all her animals. Dee was also part of the Commemorative Air Fore in Abilene.

She was preceded in death by her parents Frederic and Edna Parodi, and her husband Russell Dunham in 2006.

Dee is survived by her son, Todd Dunham and wife Jackie; granddaughter, Lauren Ashley Dunham; daughter, Dawn Potosnak and husband Joe; grandchildren, Dr. Leeza Stein, D.D.S. and husband Malcolm, and their baby boy Stein in January 2022, Michael Potosnak and girlfriend Holly Aston; cousin, Karen Schneider; brother, Edward Parodi and wife Patty; one niece, and one nephew.
