Debra Jeanne Downs

Debra Jeanne Downs, 64, of Tuscola, passed away on November 18, 2025. She was born on March 3, 1961, in Freeport, N.Y. and lived in Oswego, N.Y. until her teens.

To all who knew her well, Debra was a loving, generous, and resilient presence. She deeply loved her niece and nephew, Stephanie and Nicholas and cousins Judy, Cathi and Dave.

She worked for many years at American Greetings where she formed friendships that lasted throughout her life. However, being a school bus driver for elementary children gave her the most satisfaction. The children adored her and lovingly called her “Miss Debbie”.

Debbie will be remembered most of all for her beautiful smile—one she carried even in the face of long-term chronic health challenges. Her warmth, strength, and the unmistakable brightness of her smile will be the lasting memory she leaves with everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

She will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery, Nahant, MA, her favorite peaceful place by the ocean.
