Davie Jack Moore

July 1, 1933 — January 28, 2026

Davie "Jack" Moore, 92, of Tye, Texas, passed away Wednesday, January 28, 2026, in Merkel, Texas.

Visitation will be held at Hamil Family Funeral Home on Monday, February 2, 2026, from 5:00-7:00. Funeral services will be at Tye Baptist Church Tye, Texas on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at 1:00 with a graveside following at Tye Cemetery.

Jack was born July 1, 1933, in rural Taylor County to Aubrey and Remona Moore. He graduated from Abilene High School in 1951 and proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1953 to 1955 during the closing of the Korean War. He married Sara Mae Adams of Caps, Texas, on June 27, 1952, in Caps. Their 67-year marriage was a testament to enduring love and devotion, a legacy cherished by their family. Jack and Sara were faithful members of Tye Baptist Church, where Jack was ordained as a deacon on September 14, 1969.

Jack retired from Patterson Drilling, formerly known as Wes-Tex Drilling, after 26 years of service, where he worked as a shop foreman and industrial mechanic. Though a mechanic by trade, Jack was a "mechanic" in every area of life. From repairing farm equipment and drilling rigs to fixing clocks and lamps, he was truly a skilled man. More than anything, he was a fixer with a servant's heart. He faithfully served his children and community by coaching youth sports teams, acting as an adult leader for FFA and 4-H activities, serving on the school boards in both Tye and Merkel, and ministering to the needs of members of Tye Baptist Church, whom he dearly loved.

Jack is survived by his son, Shawn Moore and wife Susan of Trent, Texas; daughter, Tonya Caulder and husband Buddy of Graham, Texas; and son, Maury Moore and wife Susan of Tye, Texas. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren; and his brother, Paul Moore and wife Jo Ann of Tye, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sara; his parents, Aubrey and Remona Moore; his brother, Elmo Moore and wife Betty; sister, Mary Frances Smith and husband Orlin; sister Nancy Moore; and his great-grandson, Slade Hamer.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons: Monty Moore, Aaron Caulder, Zachary Moore, Ethan Moore, Ronnie Dobbs, Tyler Hannie, and Derek Rabe.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Merkel Nursing Center for the love and care they have provided over the past several years.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Tye Cemetery Association at PO Box 64 Tye, Texas 79563.
