Darlene Christine Rogers

Darlene Christine Rogers, 63, died Tuesday, December 29, 2009, at her residence in Abilene, Texas. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 5, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home Chapel, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene. Born in Alturas, California, on September 1, 1946, Darlene was the daughter of the late Dorothy (Hurgett) and John Rogers. She was a retired Certified Nurse's Aide. In 1995, she married Joseph Jasper Rogers in Reno, Nevada, and moved from Idaho to Abilene two years ago. Mrs. Rogers was a Protestant and attended First Baptist Church in Buffalo Gap, Texas. She worked for the Abilene Reporter-News in the delivery of newspapers. Darlene is survived by her husband, Joseph Rogers of Abilene; four sons, Matt Strand of Vancouver, Washington, Davin Strand of Boise, Idaho, Jonathon Ellis of Fernley, Nevada, and Danial Ellis of Abilene; five grandsons; and numerous brothers and sisters. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the donor's favorite charity.
