Cretha Frances Sansom

Cretha Sansom, age 85, passed away Saturday, October 08, 2005 at a local nursing center. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 10, 2005 at 2:00 pm at the Highway 36 Church of Christ with Dr. Ed Headrick and John Schwiethale officiating. Burial will follow at the Dudley Cemetery, under the direction of the Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Cretha was born April 11, 1920 to the parents of Finley Coughran and Golda Johnson Coughran in Cloverdale, Oregon. She attended school in Dudley. Cretha was a homemaker and had previously worked at Goodpasture Grain Company in Brownfield, Texas. She was an Abilene resident for many years and also a member of the Highway 36 Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Hubert Betcher in 1961, and husband Odell Sansom in 1990. Also preceding her in death was her son Ross Betcher and grandson Rick Betcher. She is survived by four step-sons, Freeman, Larry and Lloyd Sansom of Brownfield, Texas; step-son Monty Sansom of Lubbock, Texas; one brother, Wesley Coughran of Belton; one sister, Betty Johnston of Dudley; two grandchildren, Toby German of Clyde and Machelle Betcher of San Antonio; and several great grandchildren including Carly Betcher of Clyde. Memorials may be made to Hospice of The Big Country, 4601 Hartford Street, Abilene, Texas 79605.
