Carolyn was born on July 8th, 1935, in Fort Worth Texas to Lynn and Pauline Thomas. She attended Arlington Heights High School where she was a cheerleader and voted most beautiful. She graduated high school in 1953 then attended TCU where she was voted Freshman Favorite and Homecoming Queen. During college Carolyn was hired to do some modeling which helped fund her travels and experiences. After TCU Carolyn moved to Houston to be a stewardess for Delta Airlines. Carolyn took great pride in being a Delta stewardess enjoying the prestige and travel that came with it. She had such fond memories of all the places she traveled and the wonderful culinary experiences she enjoyed. During her time with Delta Airlines, she met and married Phil Kendrick Jr. in Abilene on January 25th, 1959. They moved to California for a few years where she enjoyed raising her then four children in the Golden State. In 1974 while pregnant with her fifth child they moved the family back to Abilene, Texas. Carolyn was very involved in the Abilene community as chairman of the Abilene Junior League, among other organizations, throughout her many years in Abilene. She loved attending all sporting events of her five children from Crockett Elementary, to Madison and Jefferson Middle Schools, then Cooper High School. She was a football fan to her core, priding herself on throwing the perfect spiral and watching or attending any football game she possibly could. Even up until her final days, you could count on her tuning into college and NFL games every Saturday and Sunday. Carolyn had many occupations over the years loving her years with Briarstone Manor, Waldrops, Senter Realtors, Dillard’s and Busch Jewelers.
