Carlton Lee Edgar

Carlton Lee Edgar, 81, of Moran, Texas, passed from this life on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 in Abilene.

Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, June 27, 2021 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Larry Briley officiating.  Services are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene, TX 79606.

Carlton was born on March 6, 1940 in Gorman, Texas to Carl [Skinny] and Ethel (Smith) Edgar. He received his GED in 1961 and served in the United States Air Force from 1959 to 1963. While in the USAF, he received the medal of Good Conduct and “Outstanding OJT Trainer Award”. After receiving an honorable discharge, he earned his Certificate of Civil Engineering from ICET and the Civil Engineering Draftsman rank of GS-5 along with a “Doctor of Motors” certification. Carlton held various titles during his sojourn including Engineering Draftsman, Trainer, College Instructor, Telephony Technician, Oil Rig Roughneck, Diesel Mechanic, Structural Designer, etc.  

Carlton was a member of the American Legion and Texas Jaycees. He assisted in the cleanup of Florida after Hurricane Andrew and loved to prospect for Gold in Colorado and New Mexico. He also enjoyed working on automobiles and lawn mowers for his friends and neighbors.   

Carlton is preceded in death by one sister, Wanda Robinson. He is survived by his children: Keith Edgar and his wife Carla Edgar of Frisco, Texas, Laura Medders and her husband Eric Medders of Calera, Oklahoma, Randall Edgar and his wife Jeanette Edgar of McKinney, Texas, Kari Farley and her husband Kevin Farley of De Soto, Kansas. He is also survived by his stepchildren who he loved as his own: Frank Camillo and his wife Ruth Camillo of Anna, Texas and Peggy Hix and her husband David Hix of Bonham, Texas. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
