Burl McWilliams

 Burl Lee McWilliams was born in Abilene on December 21, 1940, and left his earthly home on June 10, 2024, at the age of 83.

 Burl graduated from Hawley High School where he met the love of his life, Sonja (Carter) McWilliams.  The couple shared 44 wonderful years together.

 Burl attended Draughon's Business College.  After college he went to work for Sears before serving West Texas Wholesale Supply for 24 years.  He then worked for CF Supply for 10 years.  Burl semi‑retired and worked part‑time for Reeder's Auto Supply before retiring in 2014.   

 Burl was preceded in death by his wife, Sonja Kay McWilliams; his parents, Claude and Dora McWilliams; a sister, Pauline Humphries; and a brother, Virgil Don McWilliams. 

 Burl is survived by his two loving children, Teri Nichols and husband Tim; Todd McWilliams and wife Melissa.  Pawpaw also leaves behind five grandchildren, Jacob Nichols (Alex), Maci Salaz (Stephen), Braden Nichols (Mauricio), Emma McWilliams, and Mason McWilliams; and two great‑grandchildren, Sunny Nichols and Lennox Salaz.  He was looking forward to meeting his third great‑grandchild, Wells Salaz, coming soon.

 Visitation will be Thursday, June 13, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. till 7:00 p.m. at The Hamil Family Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, June 14, 2024, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.  Burial will follow at the Hawley Cemetery. 

Burl's happiest moments were spent with family.  His hobbies included square dancing, country and western dancing, car races and golf.
