Betty G. Eitelman, 76, of Abilene passed away on Friday, June 23, 2023, in Abilene.
Visitation will be on Friday, August 18, 2023, from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m., at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene. A memorial service will be held at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, Saturday, August 19, 2023, at 12:00 noon.
Betty was born in Fort Worth, Texas to Evelyn June (Robinson) and Charles William Macune on March 26, 1947. She graduated from R. L. Paschal High School in Fort Worth, Texas and went on to graduate from TCU with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1968. She also studied at Colorado University in Boulder Colorado and France before receiving her Master of Arts Degree from TCU in 1976. She began teaching French and Spanish in Okinawa, Japan on a United States Air Force Base then returned to teach in Fort Worth, Texas. Betty married Miley Barrett Eitelman on August 15, 1975, in Fort Worth. They lived in Lubbock for three years before moving to Abilene in 1978 where they raised their family. Betty thrived on taking care of her family and loved teaching children about the love of Jesus.
Betty is survived by her husband of 47 years, Barry Eitelman of Abilene; two sons, Mike Eitelman and wife Meggan of Elecot City, MD, Brian Eitelman and wife Kate of Denver, CO; two daughters, Debra Crossland and husband Justin of Fort Worth, Kathleen Boyd and husband Brandon of Frisco; thirteen grandchildren; brother, Ray Macune and wife Nancy of Weatherford; sister-in-law, Fayde Macune of Thousand Oaks, CA.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Abilene Young Life or to the charity of your choice.
