Annette Woods, 53, of Abilene, Texas, passed away on April 25, 2021.

Visitation will be at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Thursday, April 29, 2021, from 5:00–7:00 PM. Annette was born in Midland, Texas, to Charles Lee and Ann Marie (Seiler) Howard on July 18, 1967. She was the first born of twin daughters. Her father’s work in the petroleum industry moved the family from Midland, to Monahans, Hobbs, NM, Casper, WY, and finally to Abilene. She attended Madison Middle School and Cooper High School where she participated in the Awesome Cooper Band, graduating in 1985. She continued her education at Abilene Christian University, graduating in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education. She married Winston Todd Woods in a double wedding ceremony with her twin sister, Charlotte and husband Brad Beakley, on the 27th anniversary of her parents wedding, June 16th, 1989.

Annette’s three greatest loves were family, children, and animals.  She utilized her education teaching pre-k, kindergarten, special education, and ESL through her many certifications. She adored teaching and anyone who witnessed her teaching knew that it was her special calling in life. She took early retirement due to health issues.  She was the epitome of a servant, showing compassion for “the least of these” from elderly family members to any animal in need.

One of the greatest highlights of her life was seeing her two children marry in the past year. With her excellent floral skills, she designed floral creations for both of her children’s weddings and has also designed arrangements for many other family & friend’s events.

She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Lambda Xi Chapter, a professional honor society of key women educators. She applied for, and received, grants to aid many local first-year teachers through DKG. She felt honored to serve as a case study for the students of Hardin Simmons Physical Therapy degree program.  She also loved to teach little ones in Sunday School. She was currently a member of Oldham Lane Church of Christ.

Annette was preceded in death by grandparents, Lila and George Seiler, C.M. and Daisy Doris Howard, father-in-law, Bill Woods, stepfather-in-law, Jud Watson, brother-in-law, Jeff Woods, and sister-in-law Denise Woods.
