Andrea "Andi" White Root

Andrea “Andi” White Root, 64, of Abilene, TX, passed away at home on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, in Abilene. Even as new health challenges arose after existing ones, Andi lived her life with a joyful and generous heart.

Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Tuesday, June 23, 2026 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene, TX, 79606.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, with friend, Jeff “Fuzzy” Smith of Steps Recovery officiating.

Andi was born in Newark, Ohio to John White and Joanne Gray St. Martin on July 7, 1961. She graduated from high school in East Hampton, Massachusetts and studied art and psychology in college. Andi relocated to Texas in the early 80’s and married Harry M. Root Jr. on October 15, 1988 at a ranch in Buffalo Gap, TX. Andi was a professional artist for over thirty years, well known for her intricate and colorful body art. She regularly won awards for her designs and was featured in many art and motorcycle magazines. Andi took great joy in shopping for others, especially her nieces and nephews. She was an avid motorcyclist, riding with Harry across the United States, sometimes up to 6500 miles in one trip. She attended rallies in Daytona, FL and Sturgis, SD for over 30 years. Andi loved animals, and she and Harry had many beloved dogs and birds throughout their life together. Andi enjoyed attending church with Harry and drew strength and courage from reading her Bible.

Andi was preceded in death by her father, John White of Kennebunkport, ME, in-laws, Harry and Marion “Darlene” Root, sister-in-law, Tracy Lynn Root, and niece, Amanda Charlton all of Abilene, TX.

Andi Root is survived by her beloved husband, Harry M. Root, Jr. of Abilene, TX, mother, Joanne Gray St. Martin of Newport News, VA, brother, Kimball White of Harpsville, ME, sister Melissa “Lis” Connolly and husband Charles “Chuck” of Newport News, VA, sister, Beth Damon and husband, Jared of Otisfield, ME, brother-in-law, Paul Root of Abilene, TX, sister-in-law, Susan Aston of NYC, lots of nieces and nephews and their children, and Gracie, her dog, who never left her side.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Love and Care Ministries, Abilene, TX.
