Alice Carlene Burns

Alice “Carlene” Burns passed away on January 11, 2019 in Abilene, TX.

Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., Sunday January 13, 2019 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene, TX.

A service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday January 13 at Coleman City Cemetery Pavilion, 1600 E. 9th, Coleman, with Ray Templeton officiating.  Burial will follow at Coleman City Cemetery.  Services are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home.

Carlene was born in Coleman, TX to William and Elva Cope August 6, 1938.  She went to school at Lost Creek and Coleman High School and graduated in 1956.  She attended Cosmetology School in Brownwood.   She married Don Bozeman in Coleman and they had a son, Terry, born January 14, 1960.  She married Milton Burns in 1970.  Carlene was a hair stylist for many years in Coleman and Abilene.  She also worked at Ailene’s Fashions.

Carlene was preceded in death by her husband, Milton in 1999.  Also, her parents, William and Elva Cope, her brother, Jiggs Cope, and sisters, Maggie Robinett and Dorothy Waddell.

Carlene is survived by her son, Terry and wife, Glenna.  Grandson Zach VanderVilst and his wife Millie and granddaughter Amanda and great grandchildren Zoe and Coy. She is also survived by her brother Pete Cope and wife Maxine, sisters Wanda Green, Frances Greer and Dovie Francis and many nieces and nephews.

Terry would like to express his gratitude to Aunt Wanda for taking care of Carlene and her needs for the last 20 years, and to his cousin, Gaylene for her help.
