Albert F. E. Robillard, affectionately known as "Al" to those who knew him, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2026, at the age of 86. Born in the heart of Providence, Rhode Island, on May 9, 1940, Al's life was a testament to resilience, love, and service-a life well-lived that touched many and left a legacy of kindness and strength.
Al was born to Eva Robillard and grew up at the St. Aloysius Orphanage, an experience that shaped his compassionate and giving nature. He graduated from Cranston High School in Rhode Island in 1958, an achievement that was a stepping stone to a life of service and dedication.
In February 1963, Al embarked on a distinguished career with the United States Air Force, serving with honor in the Elite Pararescue team. His 20 years of service, which saw him retire in 1983, were marked by courage and a tireless commitment to the safety and well-being of others.
On December 10, 1966, Al married the love of his life, Janet, with whom he shared a deep and abiding love until her passing. Together, they built a family rooted in love and nurtured through the values they held dear.
After retiring from the Air Force, Al dedicated his talents to the City of Abilene's Building Maintenance Department, where he worked with integrity and a craftsman's eye until his retirement. He was an active member of the Holy Family Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, organizations that reflect his deep faith and commitment to community service.
In his leisure time, Al found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was an extraordinary gardener, a skilled carpenter who built many things with his hands and heart, and an avid bowler. His love for traveling the world enriched his life and broadened his horizons, always returning with stories that inspired and delighted his family and friends.
Al is predeceased by his beloved wife, Janet, his mother, Eva, a niece, Debbie, and nephew Mike.
Al is survived by his devoted son, Nicholas Robillard Sr., and his wife Melissa, of Abilene, Texas. A sister Jan Cornell and husband Sonny of Cato NY. His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren, Maria Robillard Hernandez and her husband Jaime, and Nicholas Robillard Jr., all of Abilene. Al was also a proud great-grandfather to Raiden, Missouriana, and Nikolai Hernandez, who will carry forward his spirit and love. Nieces, Janice Huppe (Mark) Delaware Water Gap PA, Donna Ashby (Randy) Phoenix NY, Jackie Putnam of Burleson, TX, Jennifer Putnam of Baldwinsville NY. Several great-nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 29, 2026, with the prayer service starting at 7:00 p.m. at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Rd., Abilene.
A service to celebrate Al's remarkable life will be held on June 30, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the Holy Family Catholic Church, located at 5410 Buffalo Gap Rd, Abilene, TX.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to Hendricks Hospice, Palliative Care team and the dedicated Hendricks nursing staff, with special recognition to Cynthia DeHoyos MSN RN, Seema RN, Jennifer Davis NP, for their exceptional care and support. A special note of gratitude is extended to Melissa, whose loving care of Al and Janet in their final years was a true testament to her devotion.
Al Robillard's life was a beacon of love, service, and integrity. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him, forever cherished and never forgotten. May he rest in peace as his legacy continues to inspire us all.
